a good girl does good make-up
In this interactive make-up tutorial, I interrogate how a feminizing "male" body can queer beauty and gender norms, revealing the ugliness and absurdity underpinning both. Improvised over 90 minutes, the piece studies the tension between pleasing others and pleasuring the self in real-time, over YouTube Live and in-person. What "good"—and bad!—might come when audience is implicated as mirror, co-conspirator, voyeur, and more? (performed May 2022, Moss Arts Center, Blacksburg, VA)
